About Kutchinsky Brand
Kutchinsky jewelry brand was started as a small family business. Hirsch Kutchinsky and his son, Morris, came from Poland to London in the end of the 19th century. By that time, they were highly experienced jewelers who served the court of Ludwig of Bavaria. In 1928 Morris’ son Joseph joined the firm. Being only 14, he already was a great diamond cutter. Very soon he became a head of Kutchisky’s production of platinum and diamond watches. It felt like Joseph was born to lead a jewelry brand. He was charismatic, energized, and had natural sales ability. All these qualities along with original design ideas made Kutchinsky jewelry extremely popular. The most sought-after pieces by Kutchinsky house were produced in the 1930s-1950s. The House was called “the David Webb of London” because of the exuberant look and excessively detailed jewels. Kutchinsky pieces are always whimsical, with a pinch of humor and fun. The ones from the 1940s include many animalistic brooches. In the 1950s-1960s it was all about the firm mixing semi- and precious stones. That resulted in beautiful creations featuring lapis lazuli alongside diamonds, coral with sapphires, agate, turquoise or malachite alongside ruby or emerald.
In 1991 the company was sold to Moussaieff Jewellers. Since the original Kutchinsky brand is no longer active, its jewelry can be only found in private collections or with vintage jewelry dealers. You will find our selection of Kutchinsky jewelry here.
