An antique Edwardian platinum horseshoe brooch with diamonds.
Made in New York in the early 20th century, this Edwardian brooch comes from the respected jeweler Gattle. The firm was known for precise hand fabrication and a meticulous approach to platinum jewelry. Their work was produced in small quantities, which makes signed pieces especially hard to find today.
The design dates to the transitional years of the 1910s into the early 1920s. It reflects a shift away from purely Edwardian softness toward the cleaner structure that would soon define Art Deco. The horseshoe motif was popular at the time and carried associations with good fortune.
Crafted in platinum, the horseshoe brooch with diamonds is set throughout with old European-cut stones. The diamonds are bright and well matched, and the settings show careful, confident workmanship.
The brooch measures approximately 1 ½” long by 1 ¼” wide and weighs 9.9 grams.
