This figural brooch is a striking example of mid-20th century French craftsmanship. Made in 18k yellow gold, the design features a carved coral hand grasping an enameled lantern, adorned with a black onyx finial. The cuff is set with a row of round brilliant-cut diamonds, adding refined brilliance to the sculptural composition.
The brooch is stamped with the French eagle head hallmark, certifying its 18k gold content and French origin, along with an indistinct maker’s mark. The lantern top, which may appear to be citrine at first glance, is actually vibrant golden enamel framed in gold latticework. This piece measures approximately 2 1/2 inches in length and 1 inch in width, with a total weight of 16 grams.
