    About Andre Vassort Brand:

Being one of the most important French jewelry designers of the 20th century, Andre Vassort is certainly overlooked today. He established  his brand in 1955 when started to sell his pieces to a limited number of clients. His innovative design never followed the mainstream. Vassort’s pieces were crafted with the highest quality standards and he quickly acquired his loyal clientele. Big names, such as VCA, Boucheron and Mauboussin used his services, and often assigned Vassort the special orders for their high-end clients. For instance, VCA hired Andre Vassort to design the stunning emerald, ruby, pearl and diamond crown made for the coronation of Empress Farah of Iran.

Over the time Vassort’s workshop became the largest in Paris. He established himself as one of the most prominent French jewelry makers. Vassort’s studio was a place for thriving creativity and innovations. He used rough-cut gemstones and embodied bold geometrical shapes into  unconventional materials. Vassort’s work was exhibited in the 1950s and 1960s at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Today his pieces are rare find and sought-after by collectors.

    About French Jewelry:

Vintage French jewelry is highly valued by jewelry experts and enthusiasts. Since the late Renaissance, France has been established itself as one of the world trendsetter in art and fashion. A quick look at the top 5 French jewelry designers  Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Hermes, Chaumet, Chanel — describes the French level of greatness even better.

How did France reach such a high level of the hierarchy of the jewelry world? In a nutshell, it started with French apprenticeship system. In the beginning of 1950s, in France anyone at the age 14 could start learning the craft. This way French jewelers, like no others in the world, gained a substantial portion of experience in the early age. Even non-designer jewels were produced by the high skilled masters.

Modern jewelry is not handcrafted anymore and mass market oriented production is prevailing. Jewelry designs are streamlined to use as less hand labor as possible. That’s why today vintage French jewelry is in such high demand. Nadine Krakov Collection offers the most desirable vintage jewelry online made by French experts.
