An exceptional Suzanne Belperron 18k gold citrine brooch, designed as a pair of overflowing cornucopias. The brooch is embellished with clusters of translucent honey, amber, and cognac-colored citrine beads. The ribbed cornucopia forms are rendered in polished yellow gold, curving toward the arrangement of faceted and rounded gemstones. Small gold bead accents are placed throughout the citrine cluster.
The brooch is signed “S. N. Herz Belperron,” a signature associated with the period between 1946 and 1975. Earlier authentic Belperron jewelry is frequently unsigned, consistent with Suzanne Belperron’s famously stated philosophy, “My style is my signature.”
Cornucopia jewelry carries a particularly rich symbolism. The cornucopia, or “horn of plenty,” has traditionally represented abundance, prosperity, and generosity, making it a longstanding motif in arts and jewelry. Here, the overflowing citrine beads reinforce that symbolism and create an opulent interpretation of the motif.
A highly collectible example of Suzanne Belperron jewelry, this 18k gold and citrine cornucopia brooch combines sculptural gold work, abundant gemstone decoration, and symbolic design in a statement jewel. Its rich color palette and three-dimensional presence make it an especially compelling choice for collectors of Belperron jewelry.
