Retro Cartier Citrine Earrings 18k Gold Gemstones Clip-on
70744-JITOO
An amazing pair of Retro Cartier earrings made of 18k gold, citrine, diamond, and emerald. These grape earrings look very realistic, yet they display a highly artistic craftsmanship.
The citrine beads are flattened and alternatively encrusted with a diamond or an emerald in the center. Each earring has four bezel set diamonds staged separately between the “grapes” and on the top of the leaves. The latter are crafted of 18k polished gold with an open-work design. Glossy citrine beads along with the bright contrasting emeralds create an eye-catching combo. The size and shape of the earrings add to their gorgeous appearance. These Cartier citrine earrings with a beautiful Retro flare are as impressive as they are classy.
About Cartier Brand
Since 1847, Timeless Excellence has been Cartier's second name. The brand's story begins when Louis-François Cartier took over the workshop of his master, Adolphe Picard, in Paris. Initially, Cartier focused on creating high-quality jewelry and watches. His dedication to excellence and attention to detail quickly earned him a reputation among the elite clientele of Paris.
Even higher quality standards of Cartier jewelry were set in 1902 by King George VII. That year Cartier made 27 tiaras for the coronation and was officially announced as the crown's jewels seller. Since then, Cartier was proclaimed as “king of jewelry, the jeweler of kings.” The maker still lives up to this statement.
The Cartier legacy endured through the generations, with each family member contributing to the brand's global success. However, in 1964, the Cartier family decided to sell the business. The company changed hands several times but continued to maintain its commitment to quality and innovation. Today, Cartier is part of the Richemont Group, a leading luxury goods conglomerate.
Compared to other famous luxury jewelry brands, such as Van Cleef & Arpels or Tiffany & Co. who are working with precious stones a lot, Cartier is strictly focusing on diamonds and pieces made of different hues of gold.
Over time Cartier created a great number of truly iconic pieces. From a classic Cartier Love bracelet to the famous Cartier Panther collection and Cartier Trinity, without mentioning a wide variety of Cartier watches — you name it. But our hearts belong to vintage Cartier jewelry. We appreciate the uniqueness and craftsmanship of our estate pieces. Each of them has a timeless character and tells the most fascinating stories.
The exquisite quality of the Cartier pieces is unquestionable. The Maison continuously keeps creativity, innovative spirit and loyalty to traditions running on the highest level possible. Whether you are purchasing a Cartier diamond ring or any other jewelry by Cartier, you are becoming an owner of a symbol of Timeless Excellence.
About Citrine Jewelry
Citrine with its warm, golden hues, has captivated jewelry aficionados of all times. The gemstone holds a special place, adding a touch of sunny radiance to each piece.
The gem's name is derived from the French word “citron,” meaning lemon, reflecting its warm and citrus-like hues. The color ranges from pale yellow to deep amber with orange or brownish tints.
The gemstone is a variety of quartz, which is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen. The distinctive color of citrine is due to the presence of iron impurities within the crystal structure. Unlike some other gemstones that are classified based on distinct mineral compositions, citrine is essentially a quartz crystal with specific color characteristics.
Mined primarily in Brazil, Bolivia, and Zambia, citrine has a rich history. The Greeks and Romans adorned their jewelry with citrine, believing it carried the power of the sun and held protective qualities.
Citrine's versatility allows it to shine in different jewelry styles. It can be featured as a centerpiece gemstone or accentuated with diamonds and other complementary stones. Vintage-inspired citrine jewelry and modern, minimalist designs alike showcase the gem's timeless appeal. Whether chosen for its symbolism or simply for its amazing appearance, citrine remains a timeless gemstone that warms the heart with the gem's radiant beauty.

A pair of rare vintage Cartier 18k gold earrings with clip-on closure.
The earrings have an amazing intricate texture. Two layers of the gold “pins” and “buttons” are sitting on different levels. There is a flower-like looking pattern in the middle. Because of the irregular shape of the “buttons”, the light makes the earrings sparkle. This design was achieved by using a gold casting technique.
The earrings are shell shape and sit great on an earlobe.
