About Chopard
Chopard was initially established in 1860 as a watchmaking brand. Along with the high-end watches, the Swiss company is famous for its luxury jewelry pieces. Meaningful heart-shaped design, floating diamonds and red-carpet fame — those are all the parts of Chopard's authentic concept.
The core of Chopard philosophy is joie de vivre and freedom of creativity. In 1976 this philosophy led the Maison to create the first watch with free-moving diamonds between crystal glass. “Diamonds are happier when they are free” — this motto goes along the lines with Chopard spirit. The concept of Happy Diamonds works for jewelry as well.
Each brand's piece is made in one of its three production sites. The culture of craftsmanship and quality standards are exemplary high here. For instance, Chopard only uses diamonds with fluorescence between “none” and “faint”.
Recently the brand has been following the strict rules of sustainable and ethical jewelry production. Responsibly sourcing diamonds and gold has become a necessity for the brand's values. The latest update on this matter was Chopard's promise to make all the gold used to craft their jewelry 100% ethical.
About estate jewelry
Buying jewelry online might be challenging. The quality of the making has not gotten better over the time while the design is getting more and more generic. Add ever rising prices and you could end up with not finding anything suitable. To purchase a high-quality jewelry piece for an obtainable price consider buying estate items.
Estate pieces mostly belong to the times when jewels were handmade and not mass produced. There were simply less jewelry makers at that time and they cared about their reputation. Opposed to the current fast fashion approach, life pace was in general slower. That allowed makers to take more time to craft truly quality pieces.
Designer pieces aka signed pieces can cost multiple times more than their unsigned equivalents. We pay not only for an item itself but also for the brand advertising campaigns and all the buzz the name is creating. Prices for estate jewelry form differently and mostly depend on the cost paid by a seller. A pre-owned Bulgari ring and a brand-new Bulgari ring have a very appealing price difference. Ask your local jewelry store about a retail price of the desired piece and you’d be pleasantly surprised.
Pre-owned jewelry retains its value. Over the time it gets rare and more expensive. Think purchasing a new car that loses its value right after you left your dealer versus buying a vintage vehicle.
At Nadine Krakov Collection we love beauty and high-quality. Each of our estate jewelry piece is in excellent condition. We preserve the history and the greatest styles of the past so our clients can enjoy them at the fullest.
A classic Chopard L.U.C 12.96 caliber watch made of 18 karat yellow gold with an original leather strap.
Designed by Michel Parmigiani, the model features a white face with gold Arabic numerals on 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, a small seconds feature and a skeleton back. The movement is automatic self-wind.
The watch is equipped with L.U.C 12.96 caliber. Chopard launched their own watchmaking manufacture in 1993. Right after the launch, the company started to program an original caliber. L.U.C 1.96 was introduced in 1996 and gained a huge success. Professional media called it “probably the finest automatic movement being produced in Switzerland today” and awarded it the “Watch of the Year.”
L.U.C 1.96 remains in production today and is an amazing example of modern technology. The punctuated abbreviation L. U. C stands for founder Louis Ulysse Chopard. Sometimes it could be spelled as “LUC” and never as “L.U.C.”, so there is something to pay attention to while buying vintage Chopard watch. Chopard Manufacture produces the L.U.C calibers mostly by hands.
